and so it begins

This evening I wanted to join my compadres at Casa de Long, but couldn't because we have to prepare for our exploratory trip this weekend. Although I'm not officially leaving for another month, I can't help but feel like we've already left. Our time and attention is absorbed by packing, finding housing, finding a job, I'm phasing out of my responsibilities at work, and we have less and less time to spend with the people we will be leaving.

We hope you will wish us luck (or providence) as we attempt to find a place to live. I feel like this is going to be one of the most important tasks. I want my home away from home to kinda feel like home, ya know wut i mean? Therefore, I am looking for something kinda crowded, kinda noisy, kinda trafficky. If am stuck on a bleak, bare, quiet, woodsy street in the middle of a Boston winter that seems like forever, I think I will lose it!

Some things that might help you in your adjustment to East Coast Life... :)

1. Real Seasons - Fall and Spring are especially beautiful
2. Real Public Transportation
3. Real New Year's Celebration - It's nice to be able to watch New Year's Celebration on TV LIVE (not 3 hours delayed)
4. Real Inclement Weather Drivers - people really know how to drive in the rain.
5. Real Weathermen/women - You actually pay attention to the weather reports.
6. Real Sports Town: Superbowl winner, World Series winner and a basketball team that actually made the playoffs. :)

Some downers:
1. Driving is Snow is a pain - If you don't know what an ice scraper is; Don't worry, you will.
2. An umbrella is actually a required accessory.
3. Driving in Snow is a Pain. If Boston "salts" their roads, then RUST is inevitable.
4. Every "planned" outdoor activity usually has a Plan "B".
5. Lame beaches and no sunsets over the ocean.
6. You will miss authentic Mexican food.
7. Did I mention that driving in the Snow is a pain. It's worse when it turns to ice.
