I watched the Roberts confirmation hearing on C-SPAN2 for an hour last night, and I must say - I'm intrigued. Some observations:
a) First of all, calling it a "hearing" is ridiculous. I would call it "The Public Pulpit: A Story of 18 Old White Guys (and a Girl) and The Love of Their Own Voice."
b) Roberts has this incredible knack of communicating a sense of confidence, knowledge of the law, and an attitude of I-find-you-annoying-with-all-due-respect, all while communicating a clear, precise answer in 1/3 of the time it took the senator to ask the question. Amazing!
c) What's also amusing is that they spend an eternity asking him a question, and when he's about ten seconds into his response, they cut him off and say they want to move on because they don't have much time left. Now who's fault is that, Senator???
d) John Roberts is a handsome man, kinda reminds me of Larry Hagman during the "I Dream of Jeannie" years. Maybe that's why I watched C-SPAN for so long.

I agree Pauline, it was hard for me to listen on NPR. I kept yelling at the idiotic senators to stop blowing hot air and get to the point of their inquisition. Miss seeing you and DJ.
