The first time I heard a Beatles song was in elementary school when Mrs. DeFalco's 4th grade class had to dance to "Twist and Shout" during some school talent show. (I remember this year as the time when the Olympics were in Seoul; we were told that we neared adulthood and needed to use deodorant; and I did very well in the Torrance district-wide spelling bee.)
I still don't think I fully understand the impact of the Beatles on music in general, but would have been fun to see this performance:
The Hollywood Bowl, 1964. (This may pre-date even some of my oldest readers.)

The Beatles are freaking awesome. Most people only know their very pop rock and roll songs, most of which are on their album, 1. The White Album is a great album to check out for their stuff that is less well known. I really did Helter Skelter.
That would be "dig" not "did" there.
I am a huge Beatles fan... have been since elementary school. I used to go to Beatles conventions and wore Beatles t-shirts in grarde school. I was a very weird kid, wasn't I. When Danny and I are in London, we will mos def do the Beatles walking tour.
