And so the deviation begins...
Sep 2 Los Angeles
Sunny. Warm. High 89F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
Sep 2 Boston
High 63F. Winds E at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
The students are back, as demonstrated by the hammering and loud music above us, UHauls lining the streets, and random discarded furniture (like the Dyson vacuum Simon found in the dumpster).
Speaking of students, yesterday on the way home from work there was this group of high school kids talking at, like, OMG, total teenager volume, you know? They were discussing whether or not they had enough money to have dessert at the super fancy place called Finale that just opened in Coolidge Corner. Then there were about four of us old farts who you could tell just finished hell week at work and wanted some peace and quiet in order to read or, in my case, plan out the next week on my palm pilot. One woman even asked them to quiet down, like she was the teacher and we were in a library. We all thought she was a cranky old lady but inside we rejoiced.
And it just made me wonder - what has happened to me? Have I really become so old and tired that not only do I not savor the joy of simply living and being with people like these kids were doing, but instead want to stifle their good time? What happened to going out, staying out late, shopping and not thinking about work or money or laundry or the future? Does growing up = growing old?
