I am blogging while in my "Marketing Social Change" class and just learned that China has banned plastic shopping bags.
Some numbers:
People in China currently use 3B bags per day.
Each day, just over 12B bags are used in The World.
It takes 37M barrels of crude oil to make 3B bags.
Plastic bags take 1,000 years to decompose.
This class has me really jazzed up about stuff. Especially about climate change and the impending world water crisis.

whole foods is ditching the plastic bags too. either bring your own "tree-hugger/save-the-world" bag or use their paper bags.
