"What makes this collection so special is that it represents Mrs. Bush's legacy."

This is a direct quote from a WH staffer referring to the George W. Bush china service which Mrs. Bush unveiled today in a press viewing. The 320 14-piece set was purchased by the White House Historical Association for $492,798. "It is customary for presidents and first ladies to design their own china and leave it as a memory of their time in the world's most famous home, although some presidents, including President George H.W. Bush and President Carter did not."

Hmm...where do I begin?

The china set represents her legacy? Um, okay.

If the china set is her legacy, why is it named after him? But really, why IS it named after him anyways? It's like the tradition of saying "Mr. and Mrs. George Bush" as if the woman's name and identity don't matter. How about the George W. and Laura W. Bush china service?

Finally, $492,798? Really, now is that necessary in this economy?
