...is making beef noodle soup.
Oops, I forgot I'm not using Twitter or Facebook right now. So confusing.
So I'm making a big pot of beef noodle soup right now, and I thought I'd Wikipedia it to see what it's all about.
It was supposedly created by the Hui, a Chinese Muslim ethnic group during the Tang Dynasty. Taiwanese people disagree (surprise surprise) and argue that it was invented in Southern Taiwan. In any case, Taipei now calls itself the "World Capital of Beef Noodles". I did partake in an exceptionally delicious bowl of beef noodle soup there in a little restaurant in the Shida night market back in 2006. I think I will have to go back again to attend the International Beef Noodle Festival. Until then, homemade will have to do...

I had heard that, because Taiwan has gotten an influx of different people from all over China throughout the decades, they are often mistaken to think that they invented this or that dish of Chinese food... when really it's a Cantonese dish, or a Sichuan dish, or a Hui dish, etc.
臭豆腐 (stinky tofu) may be the only dish genuinely out of Taiwan...
sad to say we've seen that wik page before too... we hui's are pretty amazing.
I was just reading about the Hui tonight!
