Chart Happy

I just posted about how next week is going to suck, mostly because I am and will continue to be swimming in powerpoint presentations, charts, recommendations, marketing plans.

So, since I had some free time this evening, I decided to analyze our household spending trends in advanced of filing our 2008 tax return. Honestly, I can't think of a any other leisure activity that's better than tracking our monthly spending patterns and annual spending by category, and I don't know why I waited so long to do it. Here are two excerpts from the powerpoint I created for DJ:

Don't these make you happy, just a little bit?

Yes - I admit it, they make me happy. I LOVE tracking our spending and then making reports out of it and looking at them.

Wow - what is the blue? Hmm... it's not a steady amount, so it can't be rent. It's highest in the summer, so I don't think it's tuition. Taxes? Taxes and rent are over half of what we spend.
