DJ and I will both be joining the Massachusetts workforce this summer. Offer letters are signed, scrubs have been embroidered, and business card are being printed.

The story of how we got here is a long one and is still unfolding, but needless to say we are filled with relief, gratitude, and humility.

Relief, because we both found jobs fairly painlessly in a job market that doesn't need to be explained. Gratitude, because our jobs are exactly what we each went to graduate school and training for. And humility, because Massachusetts wasn't the direction we were going for, and yet God was willing to wrestle with us in the darkness until we had no choice but to let his direction and guidance sink into our thick, stubborn heads.

At the end of July, DJ will be joining Advanced Surgical Associates, a private oral surgery practice in Tewksbury, MA. I will be working on the cranberry bog, as Sustainability Manager, and will attempt to make the world's biggest cranberry company more green. Note that I said green, not green-washed. My parents are still in disbelief, as am I.

I can't properly describe the thoughts and emotions that are flying through my head as I look to the future. Disbelief, (a pinch-me-so-I-know-this-is-real feeling), at the fact that residency is over and we now have time to socialize and enjoy friends and each other like real people. Anxiety about what comes with increased financial responsibility. Fear of being so far from the people and place that will always be home. Sadness knowing that time in California will be reserved for holidays and random weekends. Thankfulness, knowing that we have a Boston church and family to love and be loved by. And excitement to begin to see the real purpose and mission that lays before us as we build our new history here in Boston. And I look forward to sharing that with you.
