doh!!!

Perhaps I should not be quoting Homer Simpson, since his creator, Matt Groening, has caused some television frustration in my life lately. First of all, my husband watches Futurama everyday, usually while he brushes his teeth. Yes, one episode in the morning and one episode in the evening before bed. I don't mind the show itself so much; what I do mind is: a) he finds the material so funny that there is often a high-pitched giggle-bordering-on-shriek coming from our living room; b) there is less hard disk space on our TiVo for "Sex in the City" because of all the Futurama episodes; and c) there is less TV face time for me to do more important things like learning about the innerworkings of our government from "The West Wing."

Speaking of our government and Matt Groening, many of you know the OC is one of my favorite shows. Let's call it my weekly indulgence. Last night was an OC night, and when I tuned in to Fox, to my dismay, "King of the Hill" was on instead of the OC. What the!?

I frantically searched the cable schedule and TiVo schedule and both indicated the OC was supposed to air. And then I went to the one source I knew would have the information I needed: the OC message boards.

Evidently, our good President Bush, in his zealous efforts to drum up support for his social security policy, held a press conference - during primetime. On a Thursday night. During the first week of May sweeps. Social Security instead of the OC and Survivor. So smart.

Here is what my fellow teenybopper OC fans had to say on the msgboard:

Ok seriously he should of done that [tomorrow] or some other day not Thursday night. Now i know why California votes didnt go to Bush. THURSDAY NIGHT ARE O.C NIGHTS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. This serioulsy shows that Bush is not 'IN' and he does not know what we watch he should of researched first then announce that he was going to do a speech. Not just did i miss The O.C my all time favorite show i am a hardcore fan, but i also missed The Simple Life Interns because i got so pissed and confused that i just went to sleep. Geezzz that sucks

OC more important than Social Security? Arguable. But Paris Hilton? Unthinkable. He's lucky he's not asking for my vote in '08!

first off if you are assonine to think that a stupid TV show is more important than hearing what our President(regardless of your political leanings) has to say about our future then maybe you should put down the remote and pick up a newspaper, people like you make me sick.

Love the spelling, punctuation and grammar. Makes me thing s/he is not practicing what s/he preaches. If you pick up a newspaper, you should try reading it.

But wait - it gets better:

I hate him too, first he ruins the economy, then the enviroment, and then the oc.

So not only is Pres. Bush losing SS votes, the under-21 demographic now credits him for ruining the economy, the environment, AND the OC. He might as well resign now.
