It's APA Heritage Month!

As I enter my final month here, I'm reminded of how rare it is to find an organization as influencial and effective as APALC. I can't imagine the amount of vision and drive it took for Stewart Kwoh to transform this place from a one-man legal aid to a full-service civil rights organization.

I'm so proud to be here. These walls are filled with the most intelligent, creative, funny people. They could be making a lot more money somewhere else but choose to work here. For some it's conscience. For some it's experience. For some it's pride. For all of us it's necessity.

This recent report released by our affiliate the National Asian Pacific American Consortium demonstrates this necessity:
Asian Pacific Americans in Prime Time: Lights, Camera and Little Action
This pioneer study on the representation of Asian Pacific Americans on television reveals a dearth of quality roles for APAs in prime time programming. Published by the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium, together with the Asian Law Caucus and Asian Pacific American Legal Center, Asian Pacific Americans in Prime Time: Lights, Camera and Little Action uses systematic research methods to analyze the type, quality, and complexity of characters portrayed by APA actors.
