What I did this week

-Enjoyed a yummy dinner of baby back ribs with Karen and Enoch and their two little guys on July 4th. The littlest guy has gotten so big, he reminds me of the michelin man.

-Finished reading Memoirs of a Geisha. Highly recommended. That an entire industry was created for that kind of lifestyle is just amazing to me. Can't wait for the movie to come out!

-Made a few new friends over dinner and at church. Very refreshing, and thanks to Jess M. and Mike P. for the introductions.

-Cried myself to sleep a couple times. Still miss CA terribly.

-Went to the grocery store everyday, which brings me to...

-Made dumplings for the first time:

Not a bad wrapping job if I do say so myself. Too bad the inside doesn't taste as good as it looks. It's amazing how natural and easy dumpling wrapping/folding comes back to me, after only a few experiences as a child. It must be in the Chu family blood, coming from Northern China and all. (Dad, you are from Northern China, aren't you?)

-Made zhàjiàngmiàn (literal translation: fried sauce noodles), the way mom makes it. Yum!

-Made cilantro pesto pasta with chicken, à la 30-minute meals with Rachael Ray

Notice a pattern here? I've recently discovered Food Network and HGTV. Where have they been all my life??? Rachael Ray is strangely annoying and captivating at the same time. But my favorite has to be househunters or sensible chic. I have dreams about going to home depot and making a headboard all by myself. I'll be sure to post a picture if I do.

Ooh... making a headboard. That would be SO cool. Home Depot is my new Xpedx.

BTW, P - you want us to send you some fresh dried basil? The plant we bought to start off was large, so there's already a lot of basil. And it will replenish itself soon.

Some new jalapenos are starting to bud too... you want some peppers from Texas? :)

Oh and also... your dumplings looks VERY nice. Good job!
