The Massachusetts Attorney General is investigating some area supermarkets that broke an old puritanical law that prohibits doing business on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. What is funny is that the six stores that remained open were all chinese markets (Super 88's). Ha ha - does anyone else find this really funny?

What I find extremely weird is despite an uber-liberal environment (e.g. calling the city Christmas tree "Holiday Tree" instead), a law like this still survives.

Let's think about this contradiction. One one hand, we must refrain from buying groceries on Christmas day in order to remember the sacredness of Christ's birthday. On the other hand, we have to erase the sacredness of the day because we want to be politically correct.

THAT's why when we were frantically searching to buy gravy and stuffing at the last minute, we couldn't find a single grocery store open, save for this tiny mom-n-pop shop run by our other southeast asian neighbors. i cleaned their shelf of 7 cans of gravy. ;) yeah, i forgot to get the gravy the day before... i must learn to use lists. tsk, tsk, i know.
we miss you guys~
