In the city where buildings never get more than 100 years old, another landmark is
gone. I had the privilege of "experiencing" the
Ambassador Hotel at a
Collage Dance Theatre performance a couple of years ago, when I walked through the halls of a space that symbolized the time when the term "Hollywood" meant good movie-making instead of designer dresses and divorces.
It's now been demolished to make room for an LAUSD school. Because one
astronomically expensive and hazardous piece of L.A. real estate is not enough for one school district.
