During the Memorial weekend, DJ's parents visited us for the first time and then we went on a week's vacation in Maine. There are more things to share, but first things first -
Lobster!
I've probably eaten a total of three lobsters in my life prior to this trip - once during lobster festival in San Pedro, CA; once at Ivy and Simon's house; and maaaybe one other time at the kiddie table at a Chinese banquet. It's strange that I so rarely ate it considering the fact that my mom loves it so much, during her last trip to Maine she managed to keep the lobster shell intact while eating it and brought it home as a souvenir.
If a trip can be summed up in a word, "lobster" would be it. We spent much of our time in Maine eating it, thinking about it, calculating the price of it, driving to it, debating about whether we should drive to it, or determining how to maximize meat volume while minimizing cost. After five days and four lobster meals (with a sprinkling of baked haddock and crab claws in between), we've established that the best PJ-DJ lobster consumption strategy is to order two lobsters averaging 1.5 lbs each. DJ gets the two tails, I get 3 claws, and the fourth goes to the person who is more hungry. Or eats faster.
