grabbing the asian american vote

Two posts in one day? I must have an exam tomorrow...

Here is a NYT interview with Barack Obama's Asian-American half-sister. This guy has so many layers of heritage.

Uh, find me a black person that think Obama is black. He looks black, but that's about it.

Uh, evidently thousands of black people in South Carolina think he's black.

My statement was definitely an over generalization, but his win in SC is not a black vote win. Look at the percentage of voters that are actually black. It just doesn't add up. There's no way Obama will win the election off of black voters.

Obama is a great speaker, but I have yet to hear much substance come out of his mouth. "Yes we can!" Yes we can, what? It's nice to talk about change, but what are you changing and how?

Both those statements are exactly his problem. He's tried to hard to get blacks people to believe he's electable, to draw them away from the Clinton name. Now that he's done that he has to be careful to not be the "black candidate" or he'll lose the white (and Asian!) vote. On top of that, he needs to figure out the policy or else he'll lose the intelligent vote.

I would love to see some substance come out of Huckabee and Obama both. Both are very good speakers, but I have the feeling that when it comes down to substance Huckabee has none and Obama is going to talk about more government to accomplish his change. That will almost immediately lose any potential vote from me.
